Itamar Stern (eat-tah-mar), PT, OCS
PT, OCS
Phoenix

Itamar received his degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Tel Aviv, School of Medicine and Asaf Harofe teaching hospital in Israel and he became a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in 1998. He is the co-owner of Foothills Sports Medicine and Orthopedics – Phoenix location.

Migrating from east to west, Itamar has over 16 years of therapeutic experience. He began his professional career in an Israeli military clinic treating a variety of orthopedic injuries most of which were trauma based. He decided to head west in 1988 and landed in California to work at Centinela Hospital treating patients with a variety of orthopedic, neurological and medical conditions. Two years later Itamar moved into the private setting at Santa Monica Orthopedic and Sports Medicine as a staff therapist and later became director of the facility. Working for this internationally known group of Orthopedic Surgeons provided Itamar with exposure to professional, collegiate and high school sports. Itamar was a physical therapy consultant to the U.S. Soccer world cup team, Pepperdine University, the Beach Volleyball Tour and Santa Monica Community College. Aside from professional athletes, Itamar treated the very active southern California population and dealt with running, cycling and skiing injuries. Itamar also operated a personal training and performance enhancement business catering to the more athletic Hollywood celebrities.

The Northridge earthquake “moved” Itamar and his family to Arizona where he accepted a position as the Director of Physician’s Physical Therapy in Phoenix. Itamar expanded his orthopedic treatment to the pediatric and geriatric population and managed a very successful industrial injury treatment program. Through referrals from some of Arizona’s best physicians, Itamar encountered cutting edge orthopedic medicine and gained experience in treatment of the latest procedures in orthopedics. He assists in the orthopedic training of Good Samaritan Hospital family practice residents and addresses the group on a variety of sports and orthopedic rehabilitation issues.

Itamar believes in functional rehabilitation towards achievement of a patient’s personal goals. No matter what someone’s age, occupation or ability level, Itamar feels that the knowledge of the human body, manual therapy techniques and the science of exercise with essential therapeutic modalities are the keys to physical therapy treatment. All this performed in a “hands on” manner, a fun environment along with open communication between the therapist, patient and physician provide the patient with the ultimate opportunity to heal and return to a full, desired level of function.

More about Itamar:
Itamar served in the Israeli Defense Force, played professional basketball in Europe and for the Israeli Junior National Team. He is a competitive age group triathlete and has a wife and two children.
